THURSDAY’S QUESTION OF THE DAY

Question of the Day: With my wife in New Orleans through Sunday, I continue spending the week as a single parent – and learn a little more about what SHE does every day while I’m at work.  One thing that’s surprised me is that my son, who’s in KINDERGARTEN, has come home with HOMEWORK twice now.  I can’t remember ever having a homework assignment until maybe 4th or 5th grade – but I guess this is just the new norm.  Do you think kindergarteners should have homework?  If not, at what grade do you think it’s appropriate to send kids home with work to complete outside of the classroom? (Broc)

HOLLYWOOD

I guess I never even knew that she was his child – but apparently, Lionel Richie, the father of new Scott Disick girlfriend Sofia Richie is TERRIFIED of the new romance.  Scott, who is 34 and Richie, who is 19, have been making headlines for the last few weeks after being spotted together for the first time as a couple in New York City in early September.  When asked if he was happy for the new couple, Lionel said “I’m scared to death, are you kidding me?” Scott has three children aged 7, 5 and 2 with ex-girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian – while Richie, again, IS 19.  That’s just gross, if you ask me.

Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen got Brooke Shields to dish on her could've-been relationship with President Trump.  Shields admitted that the president did try to woo her once upon a time — in 1999, right after he divorced Marla Maples, to be exact. Trump called up Shields, now 52, and Brooke said “He said, ‘I really think we should date because you’re America’s sweetheart and I’m America’s richest man, and the people would love it.’”  Shields wasn’t as sold on the PR stunt as he was and declined his offer by saying, “I have a boyfriend. I really don’t think it would be — he’s not gonna really be happy about it.”  Cohen has a knack for getting famous actresses to share their stories of dating or almost dating the President.  Last month, he got Candice Bergen to confess that she went on a blind date with POTUS in their college years.

Bruce Springsteen opened his debut performance of Springsteen on Broadway yesterday with a heartfelt tribute to his friend Tom Petty, who died Monday at age 66. The singer-songwriter dedicated the first of his solo acoustic storyteller shows to the late singer-songwriter, along with Petty's family and Heartbreakers bandmates.  Springsteen also saluted Petty via Twitter on Tuesday. "Down here on E Street, we're devastated and heartbroken over the death of Tom Petty," he wrote. "Our hearts go out to his family and bandmates. I've always felt a deep kinship with his music. A great songwriter and performer, whenever we saw each other, it was like running into a long lost brother. Our world will be a sadder place without him."
